June 2019


Travels to Andorra (Pays Basque), alongside Jean-Paul Bourdier, who is working on a large-scale Land Art photo installation at the L’and art Biennale. She shoots the challenging process of assembling his installation.

June 21, 2019


Presents a keynote in Paris for the symposium Dancing Politics, Moving Performance: Conversations at the Edges of Choreography, curated by Rizvana Bradley. Forgetting Vietnam is screened before the lecture. Minh-ha attends many of the performances at the Centre National de la Danse.

July 2019

Co-filming with Jean-Paul in Alsace, Bretagne, and Charentes-Maritimes for a future film project.

August 28, 2019


Fall semester begins at University of California, Berkeley. Minh-ha has been a professor in the Gender and Women’s Studies Department since 1994 and in the Department of Rhetoric since 1997.

September 5, 2019


Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, California, shows Minh-ha’s film Naked Spaces: Living Is Round at 7pm. Minh-ha is present for a Q&A.

October 8-13, 2019


Featured as one of the film directors in the 24th Busan International Film Festival (Korea) in their Focus Special Program, a special showcase of films by notable filmmakers. On October 9, she presents a keynote for the BIFF Forum on Gender/Sexuality as Aesthetic Impetus in South and Southeast Asian Cinema, and three of her films are shown.

Screening in the Phyllis Wattis Theater at SFMOMA of Shoot for the Contents (1992) as part of their new contemporary fall film series, Voices Carry: Women in Film. Introduction by Việt Lê, followed by Q&A with Minh-ha.

November 7, 2019


A special lecture by Minh-ha at the Wattis on writing, focusing on the "The Voice of Multiplicity." 6:30pm.

November 22-30, 2019


A retrospective of her films at the Cinemateket in Stockholm. She also gives a plenary lecture for the Crosscuts Festival for Film&Text organized by the Environmental Humanities Lab at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment, KTH Royal Institute of Technology; and presents a keynote for the Media Matter: Media Archeological Research and Artistic Practice conference with archeologists, also in Stockholm.

December 6-22, 2019


A retrospective of her films at the Anthology Film Archives in New York. All eight of her films are screened twice during this period. She is there in person for presentations and Q&A on December 6, 7, and 8. She also gives a lecture at Pratt University on the Politics of Form and Forces on December 6.

February 22-23, 2020


Presents keynote for the Affective Music, Labor and Work Symposium at the University of Texas, Austin.

March 16-17, 2020


Presents the 2020 Leslie Scalapino Lecture on Innovative Poetics, which serves as the keynote for the Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics 2020 Symposium, Naropa University.

A week-long program around Minh-ha’s films at a festival held in collaboration with the Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas, Texas.
