...Dodie Bellamy is on our mind: Funny People for Humorless Times hosted by Tara Jepsen and Michelle Tea
Some people avoid comedy shows because they are sensitive feminist people. If you are such a person, this event is for you.

Meet JOSH. JOSH is a roving stand-up comedy show that takes places in private homes around Los Angeles. It's conceived and hosted by writers and comedians Tara Jepsen and Michelle Tea.

JOSH is jokes for people who are often the butt of jokes. JOSH will not grab your butt unless you would like us to. JOSH likes you, and likes you to feel mostly comfortable but also occasionally uncomfortable. JOSH centers women, queers, and people of color.

Come to JOSH! Bring snacks!

Tara Jepsen is a writer, skateboarder, comic, and actor living in Los Angeles. She is the author of the novel Like a Dog (2017). With collaborator Beth Lisick, she has written and performed original sketch comedy throughout the U.S. since 1999. Together they created, wrote, and acted in the original web series Rods and Cones.

Michelle Tea is a writer and author of The Passionate Mistakes and Intricate Corruption of One Girl in America, The Chelsea Whistle, the illustrated Rent Girl, and Valencia, winner of a Lambda Literary Award for Best Lesbian Fiction. She is co-creator of the infamous Sister Spit performance tours and creator of the popular Drag Queen Story Hours.

This event is organized by Tammy Rae Carland.

This is the ninth event in our year-long season dedicated to themes and questions posed by the work of Dodie Bellamy.
