Lecture on David Hammons by Manthia Diawara
Manthia Diawara, a distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature and Film at New York University, is a prolific writer and filmmaker. In this lecture, Diawara addresses David Hammons' piece Sheep Raffle (2004), presented at the Dak'Art Biennial, and reflects on how it addresses myth, intuition, and opacity, and on the affinities it shares with the ideas of the poet/philosopher Edouard Glissant.
This is the eighth event in our year-long season about and around the work of David Hammons.
