Huckleberry Finn Opening Reception

The Wattis will present an opening reception in celebration of Huckleberry Finn, which is the final installment in a trilogy of CCA Wattis Institute exhibitions that examine America's canonical novels through modern and contemporary art. Many of the artworks will be new, specially commissioned for this presentation. The show will also include ephemera documenting author Mark Twain, and artifacts and artworks that paint a portrait of African American life in the time of slavery.
The gallery layout will be based on Huck Finn's journey down the Mississippi River. Viewers will experience the history of Twain's novel, a portrait of the era in which it was written, and the way it continues to challenge society in the present day.
